Without understanding the root of most of our economic problems & challenges one cannot begin to develop solutions. Mr. Cass makes some interesting points about what government intervention could accomplish in the market, and Mr. Bahnsen succinctly pointed out how government intervention not only fails to accomplish the goals the intervention set out to accomplish, but creates unforeseen and unintended consequences that are much worse than the initial problem. Even more concerning was Mr. Cass' willingness to accept 'a little DEI' for 'the correct government intervention' (my paraphrase). There is no such thing as 'a little DEI' - it invades everything and kills whatever it touches. That is exactly the type of unintended consequence Mr. Bahnsen was warning about - although this was the added conditions and not the basic economic intervention. Even so, it is a great example of why Washington should not be intervening in the market, and Mr. Cass walked right into it without realizing it.
